Análisis cuantitativo de acuerdos comerciales : el caso Mercosur

Abstract

El trabajo tiene por objetivo analizar la creación y desviación del comercio como consecuencia de un acuerdo preferencial. Para ello se analizan los distintos tipos de acuerdos y la Teoría del Segundo Mejor. En particular, se evalúa el MERCOSUR, el destino de sus exportaciones e importaciones, la identificación de ventajas comparativas, los contenidos tecnológicos de las importaciones y exportaciones. Del análisis surge que el MERCOSUR puede considerarse como una estructura básica en la que se podría llegar, en el futuro, a una convergencia de políticas monetarias y cambiarias, actuando el mismo como un punto de referencia para Latinoamérica.

The purpose of this Thesis is to analyze the trade creation and trade deviation due to a preferential agreement. To accomplish this objective, different types of agreements and the Theory of Second Best are examined. In particular, the MERCOSUR is evaluated, considering the exports destiny and imports origin, the identification of comparative advantages and the technological contents of these exports and imports. The analysis reveals that the MERCOSUR can be considered as a basic structure where monetary and exchange rate policies could converge in a near future, acting at the same time as a reference point for Latin America.
